Design Brief

Client: Melbourne International Garden & Flower Show

Location: Carlton, Vic

For the balcony competition at the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show, I created a garden that pushed the boundaries of sustainability and challenged the conventional waste associated with such events. The entire garden was crafted using recycled, reclaimed, re-used, and sustainably sourced materials, showcasing the potential of these resources in creating beautiful and functional outdoor spaces. Each element was thoughtfully selected and designed with a long-term vision, ensuring that after the show, every piece found its place in a permanent home, embodying the concept of a truly sustainable and waste-free garden design.

My idea to challenge the industry while being a part of the issue is not lost on me. I hoped to create a talking point for me and the industry to think more deeply around materiality and end of life plans - Drew Burns
